Huge news today as a former first overall pick will be a healthy scratch Thursday night.
Things have not gone well for Alexis Lafreniere this season and it has led to a seat in the press box tonight as the Rangers are in Tampa.
Lafrenière has 17 points in 36 games this season, which is actually his best point-per-game pace since he was drafted in 2020. However, his overall game still hasn't been enough for his coach.
Is this part of something much larger? New York has been one of the top candidates to land Patrick Kane, but would they be willing to give up Lafreniere in return?
