The Dallas Stars are in search of a new head coach after Rick Bowness stepped down after their first-round defeat at the hands of the Calgary Flames. It was recently reported by Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek on their '32 Thoughts' podcast that a former Boston Bruin is a top candidate that the Stars are interested in.

Former Bs player Marc Savard is the head coach of the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and is currently in the Western Final of the playoffs against the Flint Thunderbirds. Savard, who coaches one of the Stars' prospects, Wyatt Johnston, on the Spitfires, is on the list for Dallas' new head coach.

After Bowness stepped down, the Stars will be looking for a younger coach with an offensive mind, as they have one of the best prospect pools in the NHL, and Savard, who is 44-years-old, would fit that bill perfectly. Of course, it would be nice to have him come to the Boston Bruins as an assistant coach and run the powerplay, but to see him get his first head coaching job at the NHL level would be amazing too.

Savard led the Windsor Spitfires to a record of 44-17-4 (95 points), which was first in the Western Conference and second in the entire OHL. They also had the third-best powerplay in the league at 26.1%.
