Marchment was drafted in the first round (16th overall) by the Winnipeg Jets at the 1987 NHL Entry Draft.

He spent 17 seasons in the NHL with the Winnipeg Jets, Chicago Blackhawks, Hartford Whalers, Edmonton Oilers, Tampa Bay Lightning, San Jose Sharks, Colorado Avalanche, Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames.

The defenseman appeared in 926 career games and recorded 40 goals, 142 assists and 2,307 penalty minutes.

Bryan's son Mason Marchment is currently in the NHL and spent last season with the Florida Panthers. He is also an unrestricted free agent on July 13th, and the Boston Bruins are reportedly heavily interested in the forward.

Our condolences to Bryan's family, friends and former teammates. Rest in peace.
