The NHL has been forced to postpone yet another game after closely monitoring the situation surrounding Winter Storm Elliott.
The storm is currently in hitting the Midwest States and is expected to move towards the Eastern Seaboard later today. Due to that, the league has the difficult decision of whether or not to postpone games in the interest of fan and player safety.
Yesterday the league made it official and postponed the Tampa Bay Lightning and Buffalo Sabres game scheduled for Friday evening. However, it hasn't stopped there:
NHL Game No. 534 on Friday, Dec. 23 between the Detroit Red Wings and the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre has been postponed, and rescheduled to Monday, Feb. 27 at 7:00 p.m. ET, due to severe winter weather expected to impact the area.
The Boston Bruins are scheduled to travel to Newark on Friday to face the New Jersey Devils. There are no reports as of now of a potential postponement but stay tuned!
This is likely the right decision for the league to make at this time to keep everyone involved safe. To anyone impacted by this storm, please stay safe this holiday season.
