The Boston Bruins are getting another college free agent onto their development roster for the upcoming season.
Riese Garber is an undrafted right-winger led the University of North Dakota with 15 goals and 37 points in 34 games this season and was a finalist for NCAA Player of the Year. Standing at 5'8", the 22-year-old joins a long list of undersized forwards to go undrafted, but as we all know, small players with speed are taking over the NHL.
The Gilbert Plains, Manitoba native, is still eligible to be signed by any of the 32 NHL teams, but it's a very good sign for the Bruins that he's expected to join their development camp.
A piece of his prospect report from Dave Starman on Twitter (@DStarmanHockey):
"His numbers tell one story. Top-notch kid, tremendous teammate, leader, skilled, humble, was designated a «Signature Saint» by Dubuque when he finished there, the highest honour bestowed on a player. Keep an eye on him. Has a little Austin Czarnik in him. High compete, big motor."
