As we all know by now, former Boston Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy has found a new home with the Vegas Golden Knights.
With the move to Vegas, Cassidy is reuniting with the man that gave him his first opportunity as an NHL head coach.
The Washington Capitals hired Cassidy before the 2002-03 season as their new head coach and his first at the NHL level. The general manager for the Capitals at the time was George McPhee, who is now the President of Operations with the Golden Knights.
McPhee was the GM of Vegas before stepping down from that role and taking the position he is in now to stay with the franchise. There's no doubt that McPhee being part of Golden Knights management, had a part to play in both party's agreement of employment.
