The Boston Bruins beat the Ottawa Senators 2-0, with Jeremy Swayman earning the 30-save shutout on Saturday. It wasn't exactly a friendly affair and Bruins' head coach Bruce Cassidy sounded off on a first period hit by Senators forward Austin Watson - particularly how the officials handled the scrum that happened directly following, in which an even-up call was made.
Say what you will, I think we can all agree, the NHL officiating this season has been anything but great.
Jeremy Swayman thanked mentor Tukka Rask following the contest for teaching him how to be a professional after the long-time Bruins netminders' decision to call it a career. Swayman then followed it up by saying Rask is a Hall of Famer. Hard to disagree with him there.
Rask, 34, announced he was retiring from the National Hockey League on Wednesday after attempting to come back from off-season hip surgery, ending a 15- year playing career. He leaves Boston holding the record in both games played and wins by a Bruins netminder.
