One of the players being linked to the B's is San Jose Sharks star forward, Tomas Hertl. The 28-year-old is enjoying yet another solid season, currently sitting second on the Sharks with 22 goals and 42 points.
In the latest power rankings published by The Athletic, experts weighed in on a trade deadline wish for each NHL franchise. The Czech-born Hertl is pegged as an ideal trade candidate for Don Sweeney's club.
It is not the first time that Hertl has been linked to the Bruins. There were quite a few off-season rumblings that Boston was interested by the sniper, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2021-22 campaign.
The Bruins could turn to Hertl as a potential replacement for David Krejci down the middle. Unlike Krejci however, Hertl is a big-bodied power forward who can play both at wing or at center. He is much more of a sniper than Krejci was and could provide some additional scoring on the second unit.
Time will tell if the B's have what it takes to get Hertl to move from the west to the east coast, but it sure is worth monitoring the situation closely. It is to be noted that Hertl has a three-team list of trade destinations, so he would also have his say in a potential deal.
