While the Boston Bruins and general manager Don Sweeney spent free agency trying to chase two of the biggest fish in Ilya Kovalchuk and John Tavares, they missed out on everything else.

The team was able to add Jaroslav Halak as a backup but wasn't able to strengthen their d group or add any secondary scoring.
As the team sits about a month away from training camp, there's not much left on the open market, so Sweeney is looking overseas.
According to the Boston Globe, the Bruins are currently negotiating with German free agent forward Marcel Noebels.
There were some reports the two already came to an agreement, but Noebels agent shut that down and said the two sides are still talking.
"I think that was the German media jumping on something ahead of time," said Noebels's agent, Allain Roy. "We are talking with the Bruins, but there's nothing concrete yet."

Originally drafted by Philadelphia, the forward has spent the last four seasons with Eisbaren of the DEL racking up 90 points in 177 games.
If the two sides can reach a deal, he'll likely start the season in the AHL.
