Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy is supposed to be a big part of the Bruins future for years to come.
However to do so, McAvoy has to actually be on the ice.
Joe Haggerty of NBC Sports points out that McAvoy has now missed 23 games this season after missing 19 games last season. Of course some of those missed games were unavoidable last season, Haggerty says the pattern might be a problem.
Not only will his absence affect the big contract he's expected to sign this summer, but it could also affect his future with the Bruins while he still has some trade value.
Haggerty adds that the comparison between McAvoy and Drew Doughty are really justified since Doughty has never missed more than six games in a season over 10 years.
Do you think McAvoy will get a long term extension this summer or a shorter deal?
