How often does an NHL player decline a penalty that he drew?
Not often! But that's what exactly what Cale Makar did Monday night when the Colorado Avalanche were hosting the New York Islanders.
Check it out below:
Mathew Barzel chases Makar behind the net and gives a light tap to his arm. Makar clearly loses an edge but the referee puts his arm up for a penalty.
Before a power play is awarded, the Avalanche defenseman quickly tells the ref he fell and no penalty is called.
