Earlier this summer, Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced that veteran goaltender Carey Price would miss the entire 2022-2023 season.

After the club announced a contract extension with RFA Kirby Dach, Price was subsequently put on the long-term injured reserve, and retirement rumours began to swirl again. Over the course of the offseason, it was reported that the longtime Canadiens netminder had attempted to use PRP treatment to prolong his NHL career. Unfortunately, his body never responded favourably, and now it appears his NHL career is all but over.

Carey's wife, Angela, shared that her husband was going through a tough time earlier this summer. Today for the first time, Carey himself took to his Instagram account to share some thoughts.

''I just want to thank everyone who has been supportive over the past few weeks, months and years. It has been a very emotional time for myself. Merci. GO HABS GO!''

If this is the end of Price's career he will undoubtedly be viewed as one of the best NHL players to never win a Stanley Cup. During a four year span for the Canadiens, Price was virtually unbeatable. Unfortunately the Canadiens were never able to surround him with the talent he deserved.
