Boston Bruins defenseman Connor Clifton has stepped up in a massive way to start the 2022-23 season. Without right-hander Charlie McAvoy, Clifton has been an incredible number two behind Brandon Carlo on the right side.
So far, Clifton has chipped in offensively with four assists in seven games, but physically is where he has stood out the most. He already has 23 hits on the season, but most notably, it seems like he throws at least one big one per game.
Perhaps his biggest came last night against the Dallas Stars, though. Clifton threw a massive hit on forward Roope Hintz and was then challenged to drop the gloves by former Bruin Colin Miller.
