The NCAA has turned into a major supplier of NHL talent, as several players choose the college route more and more.

Two notable Bruins that went through NCAA hockey in Boston are Charlie McAvoy and Matthew Grzelcyk. One of whom just received a huge honor from the Beanpot Hall of Fame.

As per Bruins PR:

The Beanpot Committee announced today, January 30, that Boston Bruins defenseman Matt Grzelcyk has been selected as the 2023 Beanpot Hall of Fame inductee.

He wasn't the only member of his family either, as his father John, was also inducted.

In a first for the Beanpot Hall of Fame, Grzelcyk's father, John Grzelcyk, will also be inducted into the Hall of Fame for 2023. John has been a member of TD Garden's bullgang, the crew famous for flipping the ice to parquet in record time, for 55 years. Known best as 'Grizzy,' he has seen many talented hockey players on and off the ice, but watching his son score the game-winning goal in 2015 during the Beanpot is easily one of his top three favorite moments, along with Grzelcyk joining the Boston Bruins.

Grzelcyk finished his collegiate career with 26 goals and 69 assists in 125 games. He was also captain for Boston University for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.

The defenseman appeared in the Beanpot Tournament three times, most notably in 2015 when he was named the Tournament MVP after scoring the overtime goal in the championship game.
