Matthew Tkachuk basically forced the Calgary Flames to trade him this summer after Johnny Gaudreau left in free agency.

When a rebuild seemed to be ahead, Flames general manager Brad Treliving turned what would be his team's worst offseason in recent years into possibly the best they've had yet. Treliving acquired Jonathan Huberdeau, Mackenzie Weegar, Cole Schwindt and a 1st round pick in exchange for Tkachuk. He then signed Huberdeau to a max extension and also won the Nazem Kadri sweepstakes in the process.

While it was assumed that there were no hard feelings, Darryl Sutter's recent comments tell a different story. During a press conference, Sutter was asked to compare the skill sets of Matthew Tkachuk and current Flames forward Tyler Toffoli.

In which the longtime head coach replied:

''One guy's won Stanley Cups and been a big part of long playoff runs.''

After recording a hat-trick in the game one win, Tkachuk collected just one assist and was minus five as the Flames lost four straight to be eliminated. The 24-year-old has 8 goals and 7 assists in 27 career playoff games.

Sutter and Toffoli won the Stanley Cup together back in 2014 when they were both members of the Los Angeles Kings. Toffoli has appeared in 88 career postseason games and has 18 goals and 26 assists. Including 14 points the two times he reached the Stanley Cup Finals (LAK in 2012 and MTL in 2021).
