Friday night in Anaheim, former Boston Bruins first-round pick Urho Vaakanainen was seriously injured. The young defenseman fell hard into the end boards striking his head and neck area. Vaakanainen was eventually placed in a neck brace and removed from the ice on a stretcher before being transported to a local medical facility.
Re-watch the incident below:
Not long after the game, the Ducks provided an update on their official Twitter account:
''Ducks defenseman Urho Vaakanainen was taken to UCI Medical Center for evaluation after being injured during tonight's game. He has full movement in his extremities and is fully conscious and alert.''
And yesterday, the club released a positive update on the young defenseman:
Vaakanainen being released from the hospital is a positive sign, and hopefully, he's at home resting comfortably.
