It was clearly visible that Edmonton Oilers' defenseman was not himself during the 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs, and now we know why.
After his team was eliminated in four games in the Western Conference Final at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche, Nurse announced that he was playing with a torn hip flexor. Apparently, he suffered the injury late in the regular season and played all three playoff rounds with it.
Recovery time for minor tears to hip flexors takes around two or three weeks. More significant tears can take up to six weeks. Severe hip injuries and tears can take closer to eight weeks to heal. If surgery is needed, it could take three to six months or more to get back to 100%.
