A former first-round pick of the Boston Bruins has been forced to sign a contract in the AHL to keep his professional hockey career alive.

The Utica Comets, affiliate of the New Jersey Devils, have officially signed forward Zach Senyshyn to a one-year AHL level contract for the 2022-23 season.

Senyshyn, 25, was originally selected 15th overall by the Bruins in the 2015 Entry Draft. The forward has appeared in just 16 NHL games (14 with Boston and 2 with the Ottawa Senators) and has recorded 1 goal and 2 assists.

The Ottawa native has also appeared in 259 career AHL games with the Providence Bruins and the Belleville Senators, collecting 59 goals and 54 assists. Last season, he skated in 67 games, registering 19 goals and 15 assists.
