As every hockey fan knows, the playoffs are a different game than the regular season, and general managers have to make big decisions.

Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney made one yesterday when he sent down rookie Marc McLaughlin to the Providence Bruins of the AHL and kept veteran Chris Wagner with Boston for the playoffs. It was only a surprise as McLaughlin seemed to be somewhat of an NHL regular, while Wagner spent the entire season in the AHL.

Sweeney spoke to the media before the team left for Raleigh Sunday afternoon and shared his thoughts on his club's roster:

"Injuries and war of nutrition are always a part of the playoffs. You lose key components and players that impact the game at all sides, and it's going to be a challenge for any team. We have integrated during the course of the year a couple of younger players have come in and played some roles ... we balanced adding players at the deadline that would displace current players and the situations they were playing in ... you got your fingers crossed you stay healthy."

Sweeney also discussed how tough of an opponent the Carolina Hurricanes will be and how balanced of a team they are in both defense and offense.
