Boston Bruins prospects Dans Locmelis (Latvia) and Fabian Lysell (Sweden) faced off in the World Junior Championships Quarterfinals.
Lysell chipped in early when his rebound was put home by Sweden's Isak Rosen to go up 1-0 at 16:44 of the first period (Watch the goal below):
Locmelis didn't want to be left out of the action, as his hard work along the boards led to the primary assist on Gustavs Ozolins' 1-1 tying goal at 18:46 of the second.
Emil Andrae broke the deadlock about halfway through the third and gave Sweden a 2-1 lead, which would end up being the winning goal.
Dans Locmelis had a solid game that didn't go unnoticed, as he was named 'Player of the Game' for Latvia following the game. Early scouting reports said the 18-year-old needed to work on his overall game, and Wednesday's quarterfinal action showed a glimpse of strides in his improvement.
Locmelis finished the World Juniors with 1 goal and 1 assist in five games played, as Latvia's historic run has ended. Lysell currently sits at 1 goal and 4 assists through 5 games, as Sweden moves on to face, most likely, the USA in the semifinals on Friday.
