Boston Bruins defenseman Matthew Grzelcyk has been skating with the main group at practices over the past week or so, but today, insiders revealed the most significant progress we've seen yet.

After undergoing off-season shoulder surgery, the defenseman was seen wearing a regular practice jersey this morning. Conor Ryan of The Boston Sports Journal shared the news:

''Matt Grzelcyk is skating in a regular practice sweater today with the main group.''

After Thursday's practice, head coach Jim Montgomery said the following:

''I don't have official timelines for either. The yellow jerseys are they're not supposed to be hit, so there's no contact involved. Grzelcyk is gonna go into a regular jersey real quick, which is good. He's ahead of schedule.''

Just yesterday, Montgomery noted that Grzelcyk would be in a regular practice jersey soon, but I don't think many expected it to be as quickly as the very next day.

At first, it was a surprise to see prospect Jack Ahcan sent down to Providence of the AHL after a strong preseason. However, with this most recent update, it makes a lot of sense. It appears as though that Grzelcyk could be healthy and in the lineup sooner than first expected.
