Boston Bruins defenseman Mike Reilly is currently down in Providence and is playing in the AHL for the first time since 2017.

The 29-year-old has been a steady NHL defenseman for the past six seasons, but he ended up being the odd-man out on a very deep Bruins blueline. Because of all that, it's reported that general manager Don Sweeney is trying hard to find him a new home.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman talked about it on the latest episode of the 32 Thoughts Podcast.

''I really think they're trying to find a trade for Mike Reilly. He's back in Providence, and there were some questions about whether or not he was going to play there because they were trying to move him.''

Friedman continued:

''The latest I heard is that he was probably going to play with the Providence Bruins this weekend, but I really think they're trying to find him a new home.''

Reilly has been linked to teams such as the Ottawa Senators and Columbus Blue Jackets, who are both short on NHL defensemen at the moment. It's reported that Sweeney has even had conversations with Senators GM Pierre Dorion.

Bruins scouts were also in attendance at the the Maple Leafs and Sharks game Wednesday night.
