News broke yesterday that the Blue Jackets had a 'trade in place'' for Vladislav Gavrikov, and multiple sources reported that it was with the Bruins.

Due to cap-related reasons (for Boston) the deal was being held up. More specifically, since having Jake Debrusk come off LTIR it's complicated things more.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman shared some insight on Monday morning's 32 Thoughts podcast:

''Boston's gotta figure out their roster - their cap situation - how do they make these moves.''

'I really do think they like Gavrikov from Columbus and I think Gavrikov was pulled from the games because I think they were talking to Boston.''

Because of this, Friedman also reported that Don Sweeney may have shifted his focus and could be considering going 'all in'' on Jakob Chychrun instead.
''I do think, on some level, Boston has considered, Do we just go right for Chychrun ourselves?' Instead of being the team that helps Columbus. But Boston is going for a left D and let's see what else they come up with.''

Both Gavrikov and Chychrun have been held out of their respective lineups for trade related reasons for at least a week. How much longer until one, or both, are dealt?

The Bruins have the luxury of having the most complete lineup in the NHL without making any moves. However, this season feels like ''Stanley Cup or bust'' and Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, Brad Marchand etc., deserve it. Sweeney might as well swing for the fences!
