Jim Montgomery has come into Boston and done nothing but win, as the Bruins are now 25-4-2 on the season.

One noticeable factor has been how much he gets from his players up and down the lineup, along with the leadership of veterans such as Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand and David Krejci. However, it's being reported that at least one player doesn't quite fit into Montgomery's system, and it's starting to show.

On a recent episode of 32 Thoughts Podcast, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman shared the reasoning behind several healthy scratches and trade talk regarding forward Craig Smith.

''Smith is a good player; what someone said to me was he's not a good mix with Montgomery. What Montgomery likes and what Smith does, it's just not a fit. It's not anyone's fault, Smith is a good player, and Montgomery's obviously doing a great job there.''

Smith was placed on waivers Sunday afternoon by the Bruins, went unclaimed and even played Monday night against the Florida Panthers. It's been rumoured all season that Don Sweeney has been shopping Smith, so this would make a lot of sense as to why.
