Longtime Los Angeles King Dustin Brown announced during the 2021-22 season that it would be his last.

After a loss in a hard-fought seven game series against the Edmonton Oilers in the postseason, Brown officially retired from the NHL.

The franchise has planned multiple ways to honour their former captain. As per Kings PR:

''The LA Kings announced today that the organization will retire number 23 in honor of legendary captain Dustin Brown on February 11, as the Kings host Pittsburgh at Crypto.com Arena. Brown's night will include many things, with the banner in the rafters and a statue outside of the building the highlights of the evening.'

Brown's will be only the third statue honouring an NHL player following legends Wayne Gretzky and Luc Robitaille.

@puckempire shared a post on Instagram showing all the legends with statues outside Crypto.com Arena:

Brown was drafted 13th overall in 2003 and spent his entire career in Los Angeles. He is the Kings all-time games played leader and served as team captain from 2008 to 2016.

He was the captain of the franchise when they won their first Stanley Cup in 2012, adding another in 2014.
