Sertich would also lead the Bulldogs to a stellar season in 1985, with a record of 36-9-3

He would follow up his legendary tenure at UMD by coaching at Michigan Tech from 2000 to 2003. In 2010, would become a voluntary coach at the College of St. Scholastica for three seasons, and would volunteer as the coach for the US National Sled Hockey Team in 2015-2016.

Sertich before becoming a coach later in his career played hockey for the Bulldogs from 1966 to 1969 and would win "Most Improved Player" as a Senior.

Sertich played 64 games during his career with the UMD Bulldogs scoring 9 points(2 G, 7 A). One of his claims to fame would be scoring a goal on legendary Blackhawks goalie Tony Esposito.

Rest in Peace to Sertich, and we send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
