The Bruins (45-21-5) will look to keep things rolling after grinding out a 2-1 win over the Lightning that allowed them to move one point ahead of Tampa Bay to take third place in the Atlantic Division standings.
The Capitals (39-22-10) are six points shy of the Lightning but still have a firm hold behind them for the Eastern Conference's second wild card spot. The Caps are coming off a 6-3 win over Pittsburgh yesterday.
The Bruins will be without star players David Pastrnak and Hampus Lindholm once again this afternoon, with rookie Marc McLaughlin filling in for Pasta on the second unit and Mike Reilly sliding in on the top pair for Lindholm.
The only other notable roster change is defenseman Josh Brown who'll be inserted into the lineup against the Caps, taking the right side of the B's third pairing instead of Connor Clifton.
Between the pipes, the B's are riding the hot hand and turning to Linus Ullmark for the second straight game. The Swede has won his past six starts to improve to a 23-9-2 record this season. Washington will be starting goaltender Vitek Vanecek this afternoon.
With no other last-minute changes expected, here are the Bruins' projected lines and defensive pairings:
Brad Marchand Patrice Bergeron Jake Debrusk
Taylor Hall Erik Haula Marc McLaughlin
Trent Frederic Charlie Coyle Craig Smith
Nick Foligno Tomas Nosek Curtis Lazar
Mike Reilly Charlie McAvoy
Matthew Grzelcyk Brandon Carlo
Derek Forbort Josh Brown
Linus Ullmark
Jeremy Swayman
