It's completely understandable that the 30-year-old goaltender would like to take his time to get to know his new city, meet some new people and find a place to live along with schools for his children. These kinds of moves can be very uprooting and disruptive for any family even though it's part of the job.
Ullmark Had a no trade clause which he waived for this deal but as he stated, he will leave the negotiating to his agent and general manager Steve Staios. It's likely he will play out his year without an extension unless something changes soon.
Moving Ullmark has settled some of the goaltending questions for the Bruins as they now turn their focus to signing future #1 goaltender Jeremy Swayman and to a long-term deal. With Joonas Korpisalo in the ranks and Brandon Bussi signed to a new two-way deal, the organization can now focus on offensive needs especially down the middle.
It remains to be seen on whether the Bruins will be active prior to the draft to acquire a first-round pick as the team does not have a draft pick till the fourth round.
The first round of the draft is slated for June 28th at 7:00 PM eastern in Las Vegas NV and free agency day will take place on July 1st at 12:00 PM eastern.
