Minnesota Wild goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has set an active record for all major sports, including the NHL, MLB, NFL and NBA.
Fleury sets the active record for the longest individual playoff streak in all major sports, with his 16th straight postseason appearance on the horizon. No other athlete has made the playoffs in their respective sport as consistently as the future Hall of Fame goalie.
Fleury started the 2021-22 season with the Chicago Blackhawks and most likely would have missed the playoffs had he stayed, but a Trade Deadline acquisition by the Minnesota Wild saved his streak.
Fleury's former teammates Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang would have been tied with him had all three not missed an entire postseason due to injury, making them ineligible.
MAF is currently ahead of other active major sports athletes such as Tom Brady and Lebron James.
Former Detroit Red Wings defenseman Niklas Lidstrom holds the all-time NHL record of consecutive playoff appearances at 20 straight. Lidstrom never missed the playoffs in his entire career.
