The Boston Bruins have had trouble drafting for value in recent years, but that's the case when the state of a franchise is to contend for several years.

The value depth picks are slowly adding up for the Bs; however, the franchise still does have one of the weaker prospect pools in the NHL. Besides Fabian Lysell, the Bruins don't have any elite prospects, but they do have some underrated prospects in the system.

The most underrated is probably defenseman Ryan Mast, who was drafted in the sixth round (181st overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The Bloomfield, Michigan native stands at 6'5'' and weighs 213 lbs.

Scouting report as per Dobber Prospects:

''The right-handed defenseman was one of many OHL draft-eligible players that were affected by the missed season, but he did manage to play 10 games in a prospect showcase tournament held at the beginning of June. He is a modern-day shutdown defenseman, with the size and mobility to be effective in his own end, but the skill and instincts to move the puck up ice when needed. In 2019-20, Mast recorded 11 points in 58 games for the Sarnia Sting and plans on returning to the team for the upcoming season.''

''A physically gifted and intelligent defender, many heralded the pick as a steal I have to agree. As the season went on, Mast impressed and became not just a complimentary piece in Sarnia but was a focal point on defence. His current general manager Dylan Seca labels him an excellent student. Very dedicated player. He watches a lot of video. Intelligent person and hockey player.''
