But just how good has he been? Speaking with the press yesterday, Habs GM Kent Hughes went all-in and compared Suzuki to Boston Bruins star forward Patrice Bergeron.
Montreal's general manager was obviously very complimentary of Nick Suzuki.
"Nick is better than Patrice in some aspects of the game. He's going to continue to learn how to play defensively to reach his level in that area. I see Nick Suzuki as a number one centre in the National Hockey League [NHL]."
That's quite a comparison for the 22-year-old forward, who has 18 points in his last 14 games for a total of 46 points (17G-29A) in 63 games this season. As for Bergeron, the 36-year-old has put up another solid campaign with 45 points (17G-28A) in 56 games of his own.
While those are similar stats, Bergeron is at a whole different point in his career and has been aknowledged by many as being the best defensive forward in the game today, and even of all-time.
Both forwards played alongside each other in the latest All-Star Game in Vegas, but will more likely be facing one another for the foreseeable future.
Suzuki has said before that he models his game after Bergeron's, hinting that he's still nowhere near the level of play the B's captain has displayed for over a decade.
