Charlie McAvoy has risen to star status since he was drafted 14th overall by the Bruins in 2016.
At just 24 years old, the Bruins defenseman is already playing a complete 200-foot game and has been the B's leader on the backend almost every night this season.
Following the departures of key blueliners Zdeno Chara and Torey Krug, the Bruins turned to McAvoy to take over as the alpha on the blue line and he's answered the call tremendously.
McAvoy has eight goals and 32 assists for 40 points this season. A quick glance at his stats will have you realize that those are all career highs... and Boston still has 20 regular season games left!
The American-born blueliner even scored his first-ever shorthanded goal to close out yesterday's game:
McAvoy has also been clutch in how end this season. He has a +11 differential in 59 games, he leads the Bruins with 96 blocked shots and sits third on the team with 117 hits.
Earlier this week, McAvoy showed everyone how he loves to throw his weight around in an unreal performance against the Wild.
