The New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins are in a 3-3 deadlock in game one of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
The game has easily been the most entertaining game of the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs, so far anyway. Things got even more interesting when the Rangers scored the 4-3 goal with just over five minutes remaining in the game, or so they thought.
The goal was overturned after the refs deemed it was, in fact, goaltender interference by Rangers' forward Kaapo Kakko. Watch the play here to judge it for yourself:
Goaltending interference has easily been the least consistent call in the NHL since coaches' challenges have been introduced.
The game would stay tied for the remainder of regulation, making it the first overtime game of this year's postseason. The Rangers and Penguins are currently headed to double overtime, as the first one solved nothing.
