Nathan MacKinnon hacks official's leg with his stick in Boston; suspension incoming?
Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon is certainly going to hear from the NHL after what appeared to be an intentional slash to the leg of an official.
The play occurred off of a faceoff that MacKinnon clearly thought was either done unfairly or that Bruins center Erik Haula had cheated on without a call. Either way, it did not look good. Take a look for yourself.
I can't imagine a scenario in which the League does not nail MacKinnon with a lengthy suspension. After what we just saw with Brad Marchand being issued a 6-gamer for his antics on February 8th involving goalie Tristan Jarry in full protective gear, Mack's hack on the official is likely to earn him 10+ games.
Of course, MacKinnon doesn't have a lengthy suspension history like Marchand, but I don't think there's any question that you cannot do that to an official.
