NHL Player Safety suspends Matthews for his vicious cross-check

We knew something was going to happen when the league scheduled a hearing with the Toronto forward.
What we didn't know was how harsh the punishment was going to be.
Auston Matthews' cross-check to the head of Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin definitely did not go unnoticed; it was the result of a melee that happened during yesterday's Heritage Classic.
The NHL Player Safety Department took less than a day to come up with a two-game suspension for Matthews' nasty stick check.
The league decided that this was a sufficent disciplinary measure for the current top scorer and first-time offender. Yesterday was Matthews' 390th regular season game in the NHL.
