Boston acquired the rights to the defenseman from the Arizona Coyotes just three weeks ago.

A fifth round draft pick of the Coyotes back in 2018, Michael Callahan was acquired by the Bruins on February 22 in exchange for the team's seventh round selection in the 2024 draft.

Boston General Manager Don Sweeney has just announced that he has signed the blueliner to a two-year entry-level contract. The new deal will kick in next season and will carry an annual cap hit of $883,750.

Callahan has spent the last four seasons playing in the NCAA with Providence College, serving as team captain for the past three campaigns. A native of Franklin, Massachusetts, Callahan grew up just an hour outside of Boston.

During his sophomore season in 2019-2020, Callahan was named to the NCAA Hockey East First All-Star Team and the NCAA's New England D1 All-Stars.

The 22-year-old has played 136 career games with the Friars, registering 66 points (13G-53A) while maintaining a +24 differential.
