According to trusted NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the New York Islanders have placed 2016 first-round pick, Kieffer Bellows, on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to the AHL's Bridgeport Islanders.
Bellows, 24, was originally selected 19th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, but unfortunately, hasn't lived up to the hype. He made his NHL debut during the 2019-20 season and has appeared in 68 games since, recording 11 goals and 14 assists (19 points last season).
Bellows must clear waivers at 2 pm EST on Thursday to be assigned to the Bridgeport Islanders of the AHL. The Minnesota native has appeared in 125 AHL games and has registered 34 goals and 16 assists.
He recently signed a one-year, $1.2 million contract with the Islanders on August 22nd, 2022.
