NHL general managers must submit their final rosters by Tuesday the 11th, as teams must ensure they're salary cap compliant. With today being the last day for teams to place players on waivers, the Edmonton Oilers and St. Louis Blues have pulled off a trade involving two prospects.
As per the Oilers' PR:
''The #Oilers have acquired centreman Klim Kostin from St. Louis in exchange for defenceman Dmitri Samorukov. Kostin was drafted 31st overall in 2017 & has scored 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists) in 46 career NHL games.' Kostin and Samorukov were placed on waivers near the end of last week, and both cleared. With this trade, it's not necessary for either player to be placed on waivers again, as both can report directly to the AHL if needed.
