Patrice Bergeron is known as the best defensive/two-way forward in the NHL, next to youngsters like Aleksander Barkov and Sean Couturier. A veteran of 18 NHL seasons and 1,210 games, the Bruins' captain has won the Selke four times and should be well on his way to his fifth.
Since Bergeron won his first Frank J. Selke after the 2011-12 season, he hasn't finished lower than third in the voting. He finished third twice (2018, 2019), second four times (2013, 2016, 2020, 2021) and has won it four times (2012, 2014, 2015, 2017).
Not only is the veteran an excellent defensive forward, but he's also able to get the job done on the offensive side of the puck, which makes him one of the most complete players to ever play the game.
In 1,210 NHL games, Bergeron has amassed 395 goals and 578 assists for a total of 973 points in his 18 seasons, representing the spoked B in all of them. In a respectively healthy season, where Bergeron has played at least 70 games, he's collected a minimum of 50 points.
What makes the Bruins' captain a dual-threat and a shoe into the Hockey Hall of Fame is his ability to be consistent every season at both ends of the ice.
Andy and Rono are data analysts from the Czech Republic who created the NHL creator cards based on players' advanced stats and data charts. They shared Patrice Bergeron's player card on Twitter earlier today, and it shows that he is possibly the most evident case to win the Frank J. Selke Trophy after a season in NHL history.
