The NHL has multiple teams that are in need of new arenas.
With the Arizona Coyotes and Ottawa Senators both poised to have new arenas in the next few years, it is likely that the Calgary Flames are probably the next most in need.
A recent report has shown just how bad things are in Calgary.
According to a recent report by the engineering firm Entuitive, the roof at the Saddledome is literally collapsing.
The damage is reportedly being caused by the freezing and thawing but requires the Saddledome to be inspected at least twice per year. Entuitive sent a letter to the Flames owner's stating the following:
''The condition of the concrete around the ring beam is worsening at an accelerated rate.''
Entuitive also noted that multiple areas of concrete ''appeared to be imminently ready to fall.''
As the concrete on the roof begins to fall, it collapses and damages other parts of the building.
Earlier this year, the Flames pulled out of a deal with the city that would have seen the Flames and the city of Calgary build a new arena.
It appears it might be time to circle back to that deal.
