Devastating news was announced this past Friday, as a 17-year-old out of the QMJHL has tragically passed away.
The Drummondville Voltigeurs made the heartbreaking announcement that defenseman Francis Durocher lost a long and hard battle with Leukemia after he was diagnosed with the terrible disease last March.
Durocher was selected in the third round of the 2021 QMJHL draft by the Voltigeurs but only appeared in six games before his deteriorating health took its toll.
The team released the following statement:
''On behalf of all the Voltigeurs players, staff, volunteers and partners, we offer our sincere condolences to the family and to Francis' loved ones.''
