The Bruins acquired Egan, who would be 106 years old, after he spent only 23 games playing for the Red Wings in the 1943-44 season. Egan, in those 23 games with Detroit, had an impressive 19 points in 23 games.
He continued his pace with the Bruins in the same season, having 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in 25 games. Egan would go on to play 294 games across five and a half seasons with the Bruins and would finish with 132 points.
Boston shipped Bill «Flash» Hollett off to the Red Wings to finish his career.
Bill didn't get the nickname «Flash» for no reason; he earned it because he was the fastest guy out on the ice.
Hollett played with four different teams in four different leagues, including the Bruins, in the 1935-36 season. He played in 357 games across eight seasons with Boston and tallied 199 points while helping them win two Stanley Cups in 1939 and 1941.
Hollett would finish his career off with Detroit and played three seasons with them and put up his second-best season in the 1944-45 season when he posted 41 points in 50 games.
The trade ended up working well for both sides, as both players produced well for both teams, adding the fact that Hollett's time with the Bruins was up and they still got good value.
