Gary Bettman held his annual All-Star Weekend press conference on Saturday and it left hockey fans upset.

The Commissioner discussed multiple topics, including the salary cap, NHL viewership and, what has been most debated, the unpopular playoff format that the league currently uses.

''The debate of 1 vs. 8, it's not just that. You've got to also look at changing the wild card and you've got to start looking at the matchups in terms of how many times everybody's playing everybody else if you're having conference-based playoffs.''

Bettman is convinced that it wouldn't be possible but the NHL had the 1 to 8 format for many years, and it was far more popular. Even Sidney Crosby shared how he wants it back, bringing up an excellent point that it gives the regular season more of a purpose.

Another hot topic was the expansion of overtime from five to ten minutes of three on three, but of course, Bettman thinks otherwise. As per Kevin Lacy:

Bettman said expanding overtime to 10 minutes puts first- and second-line players at risk of wearing down. Yet now he just said #NHLAllStar Weekend is essential to allow players to rest and recover... Except for those same first- and second-line players he's "concerned" about.
