The NHL season is coming to an end and the NHL playoffs are right around the corner.

The San Jose Sharks are once again finding themselves outside the playoff picture and looking like one of the most expensive disappointments in the NHL.

This summer the expansion draft will give some teams the opportunity to get ride of some contracts and the Sharks look to be one of those teams.

According to Eric Duhatschek of The Athletic, the Sharks are going to make Brent Burns available during the expansion draft hoping the Kraken lock him up.

Both Erik Karlsson and Marc-Edouard Vlasic have full no movement clauses while Burns only has a modified no movement clause which the Sharks don't have to protect.

"Erik Karlsson and Marc-Edouard Vlasic, have full no-move protection and are unlikely to waive it. Internally, it's a decision the Sharks will need to wrestle over and if they do make Burns available, then it'll be up to Seattle to decide if it wants to add a 36-year-old, earning $8 million until 2025."

Burns would add a nice veteran presence to the locker room as well as a great marketing tool.
