Evander Kane and the San Jose Sharks have been in the middle of a legal battle for months now after the termination of his NHL contract last season.

The Sharks claimed that Kane had breached AHL COVID protocols and used this to attempt to get out of his contract, while Kane and his agent Dan Milstein denied any breach and immediately filed a claim against the Sharks.

Last week it was reported that a settlement was very unlikely, but apparently, the Sharks have changed their mind. NHL insider Kevin Weekes was the first to report the news:

While fellow trust insider Frank Seravalli confirmed the news not long after, stating:

''As @KevinWeekes reported, Evander Kane and #sjsharks have made progress on grievance settlement. It's in the process of being papered.

Expectation is #sjsharks will have a salary cap charge and Kane will be due money from SJ.

Both sides mitigate all or nothing arbitration risk.''

This settlement makes it appear as though the Sharks were afraid they would end up owing Kane the full value of his contract had it gone any further.

Is Kane due an apology from several people at this point? What are your thoughts?
