The Florida Panthers came into the 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs as the President's Trophy winners and one of the heavy favourites to win the Stanley Cup this year.
After barely getting by the second Wild Card team, Washington Capitals, the Panthers have been very underwhelming against their cross-state rival, Tampa Bay Lightning.
95.3 WDAE, a radio station in Tampa Bay, reported Monday afternoon that several members of the Panthers team were seen up to no good into the late hours of Sunday and even early hours of Monday:
"You'd think maybe, you'd want to rest up a bit [being down 3-0] ... According to a very trusted source ... A lot of the Panthers team ... were partying late into the night, last night."
Apparently, the Florida team was seen at a strip club in the city of Tampa close to 3:00 am Monday morning, with game four set for 7:00 pm Monday night. We've heard of teams doing this sort of thing to kind of forget about things and to loosen up to get out of a slump. This seems a little extreme, though, especially on the same day as a big elimination game.
Panthers' head coach Andrew Brunette refuted the reports just recently:
