Not only is he the best forward on his team, but he is also one of the best players in the NHL. Nathan MacKinnon is an outstanding player, and he proves it year after year.
As he enters the final year of his $6.3 million per year contract, the Avalanche's number 29 could well double his salary, or even more, for the next eight years.
According to Michael Russo of The Athletic, MacKinnon has admitted that negotiations for his next contract are going very well and that they are very close to a deal. The star player hopes to sign his new pact before the first game of the season.
MacKinnon could become the highest paid player in the league, ahead of Connor McDavid. In 638 games, Nathan has accumulated 648 points, including 242 goals, despite taking four seasons to get going.
In the playoffs, where we separate the men from the children, MacKinnon has 93 points including 41 goals in 70 games, which is more than excellent.
