Patrick Kane is in the final year of his contract with the Blackhawks after being drafted first overall by the Blackhawks in 2007. He has gone on to play 1,107 games for the franchise but now it appears to be only a matter of time before the veteran is moved.
With teams like the New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers viewed as the perceived favourites, there is at least one other team that is expected to be in the mix.
And it's a bit of a surprise.
According to Sportsnet's Nick Alberga, a source has revealed who that team is:
''Just had someone who's in the know text me & tell me that Columbus is a legitimate team to watch here.''
Like many other teams who would be in the mix, the Blue Jackets would have to clear cap space to get this deal done. There is also a considerable lack of centers in Columbus, but the Jackets do have the assets to get a Kane deal done.
Until the moment Kane is traded expect there to be multiple rumours surrounding potential destinations.
