The Boston Bruins made a splash at the 2021 NHL Trade Deadline when they went out and acquired the top forward available.

That guy was Taylor Hall, and also in the deal, they acquired depth forward Curtis Lazar, who has been crucial to the fourth line and the identity the Bruins like to play with.

Hall had a couple of down years with the New Jersey Devils/Arizona Coyotes and Buffalo Sabres after winning the Hart Trophy for league MVP in the 2017-18 NHL season. He seemed to re-find his game this season with the Bruins, especially when he was put on the second line with Erik Haula and David Pastrnak. The Bruins' trio was one of the hottest lines in the entire NHL from the March 21st Trade Deadline to the end of the regular season, but after just two playoff games, they were split up.

Head coach Bruce Cassidy put Pastrnak back on the top line with Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron and moved Jake Debrusk down to the second. For game five, it appears that Debrusk will be on the third line with Craig Smith moving up to play with Hall and Haula.

Hall met the media earlier today to discuss the importance of that roster shake-up, even though his production may have gone down:

"For the line I'll be playing on tonight. We want to win shifts, and the shifts that we don't win, we don't want to lose, we don't want to spend to whole time in our end or give up chances or take penalties. We want to be a positive every time we're out there, and if that means generating chances and hopefully contributing, then that's even better."

It's nice to see this kind of attitude from Taylor Hall. The team seems to have all bought in that it doesn't matter who they're playing with; just go out there and win your shift. An attitude that you would have never seen from a younger Hall who has been reported for being a "cancer" in the locker room from his early days in the NHL.
