The Boston Bruins are ranked as having one of, if not the worst prospect pool in the entire NHL. Although the pool isn't that deep, there's two youngsters that the Bruins and their fans should be very excited about, Fabian Lysell and John Beecher.
Lysell was selected 21st overall in 2021, and burst onto the scene in a big way this past season with the Vancouver Giants of the WHL. The 19-year-old recorded 22 goals and 40 assists in 53 games, and added another 21 points in just 12 playoff games.
Fluto Shinzawa reported:
''[Lysell] is eligible to play in the AHL this year. Season-opening work in Providence may put Lysell in a better position to push Craig Smith, for example, in the months to come.''
-Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic Beecher was the Bruins 30th overall pick in 2019, and is another leading candidate to make the big club this season. would be the two leading candidates. Beecher is attending his first camp after three years with the University of Michigan, where he put up 19 goals and 20 assists in 71 games. He also appeared in 9 games with Providence at the end of last season and impressed with 3 goals and 2 assists.
''I'm here to make an NHL roster. That's been my dream ever since I was a little kid. Whether that's in a couple weeks from now or a couple months from now. ... I think the biggest thing for me is just keeping at it.''
-John Beecher ahead of 2022 training camp
The Bruins are hopeful about both of these two and their NHL futures, but for now, Providence of the AHL looks like their most likely destination, with outside shots of cracking the Boston Bruins.
